We believe that childhood is precious and our baby room team is dedicated to ensuring you and your baby benefit from a happy and positive nursery experience. We have a strong keyworker and buddy system in place which ensures your baby can form secure attachments to a person who will love, care and provide for them throughout the day.
Caterpillars is a calm sensory room for small babies (3 months to 2 years) who learn through their senses and can experience their first milestones such as sitting up, crawling and babbling in a safe and cosy environment.
In Ladybirds we have so much fun!
The Ladybird room is a light, bright space for inquisitive 2 year olds to explore and play. We love to do lots of messy play, we have sand and water out daily as well as constant access to arts and crafts. We go out in all weathers and love to splash in the puddles, dance in the rain and enjoy picnics in the sunshine. Ladybirds has a ratio of 4 children to 1 practitioner. This allows our toddlers to interact with each other and start to build those first steps towards independence, as well as social and self help skills.
The Ladybird room is just the right place for a curious toddler! There are many opportunities for your toddler to develop social and emotional skills, and for them to increase their vocabulary and start using sentences.
Our pre-school room is very spacious, it accommodates a separate library/quiet room where children can choose books and read in a comfortable area. Groups of 'Rising Fives' can have quiet cognitive lessons with Jenny who has a PGCE degree in Early Years. We have a huge art/craft and dance area where children can really explore their creativity with confidence. They have their own dining area where they can learn skills such as portion sizes, serving themselves and talking to their friends.
Our pre-schoolers are now becoming experts in many areas of learning and are incredibly resourceful both indoors and outdoors.
In our pre-school we are always on a fantastic adventure and have lots of fun while learning. You can always hear us singing and dancing in pre-school. Here, we also start our preparation for school through activities planned by the staff which include introduction to letters and numbers and encouragement to explore technology.
St Werburgh's have very kindly allowed our nursery to use their forest school site, during the week and through the school holidays.
Tory is our forest school teacher and enjoys bringing the Early Years Learning to the great natural environment outside. Our children enjoy activities from building dens, making clay faces, to mark making in the mud.
